You don’t need another scented candle.

Or a massage you had to book between meetings, school pick-up, and your sixth Zoom call.

You need real self-care.

The kind that doesn’t just soothe you, but strengthens you.

That restores your energy, your clarity, your courage.

That reminds you who you really are and fuels you in a way that feels sustainable.

Coaching Room Insight

This week, one of my clients, an incredible exec with a wall full of awards…said something that made the whole group go quiet:

“I realised I was ‘self-caring’ to survive, not to thrive. I was squeezing in yoga while still saying yes to everything. I hadn’t given myself permission to rest properly… or to protect my energy like it mattered.”

So we did something different, we mapped her energy.

We looked at what actually restores her…mentally, physically, emotionally. and funnily enough, it wasn’t any of the things she was used to doing!

Once we understood what she really needed, we built a plan that didn’t just top her up… it gave her power back.

That’s the magic.

True self-care isn’t about doing what other people do.

It’s about doing what matters, from a place of restoration, not depletion.

Golden Tip

Ask yourself this:

‘What truly restores me…and when was the last time I prioritised it?’

Pick one thing this week that gives you more than it takes.

(And no, folding laundry while listening to a podcast doesn’t count.)

Latest Research Nugget

The Centre for Creative Leadership found that leaders who intentionally manage their energy…via recovery rituals, meaningful pauses, and emotional replenishment…perform better, influence more, and experience greater personal satisfaction.

Their secret?

They stop treating rest like a reward.

They treat it like a resource.

Win of the Week

“I used to feel guilty taking time for myself. Now I know it’s the reason I’m leading at my best. This programme didn’t just give me tools. It gave me permission.”
