Love it or hate it, we are sitting on a tool that can support you in your career.

We talk about it a lot in my programmes, so I thought I’d share some of the magic with you!

What if you had a co-pilot for your career, Sinead?

One that could organise your thoughts, prep your interviews, challenge your blind spots, and write that awkward email you’ve been avoiding?

You’ve got one. You’re reading it…of course I got the GPT to collaborate with me on this edition (other AI tools are available)!

Coaching Room Insight

“I just need someone to think this through with me.”

I hear it in almost every session.
Sometimes you need a second brain…but faster.

Enter: ChatGPT.

It’s not here to replace your brilliance.

It’s here to support it.
To lighten the load.
To help you think better, faster, and more clearly.

6 Brilliant Ways My Clients Use ChatGPT

Interview Prep Like a Pro

Feed in the job spec and your CV. Ask:

“What interview questions might I be asked, and how should I answer them based on my experience?”

It’ll help you spot gaps, strengthen your examples, and build confidence.

Blind Spot Detector

Giving a big presentation? Ask:

“What questions might I not be thinking of?” or

“Where might this argument feel weak?”

It’s not just about polishing…it’s about raising your game.

Drafting Made Easy

Emails. LinkedIn posts. Difficult messages. Personal statements. Let it write the rough version…then you make it yours.

Clarity in the Chaos

When your brain is full of open tabs, just say:

“Here’s what I’m thinking, can you make sense of this?”

Confidence on Tap

Prep for salary negotiations, visibility conversations, or performance reviews. Try:

“Help me articulate the value I bring to this role.”

Daily Focus Partner

Start the day with:

“What are 3 priorities I should focus on today to move my leadership forward?”

Or use it to block your time, plan your week, or track your energy.

Prompt Like a Pro: Tips to Personalise and Uplevel

Add context.

“Act as my CEO in the boardroom – she prioritises fast action and efficiency. How might she challenge me?”

The more specific, the better the result.

Use your tone.

“Make it warm but authoritative.”

“Write like someone who’s calm, clear, and confident.”

Think: ‘What have I done? What do I know already’

Don’t start from scratch. Share your real-life experience and ask GPT to refine it.

Example: “Here’s how I led the project…can you frame this as a STAR interview answer?”

Play with roles.

“Act as an executive recruiter.”

“Act as a CFO and help me consider their perspective”

Get insights from different angles.

Use with care…a few warnings

ChatGPT can be clever but it’s not always correct, it will make up ‘facts’. So check accuracy.

It is admissible in court – be careful what you tell it – don’t share anything you wouldn’t put in a resignation letter!

Asking how to “strategically plan my exit whilst quietly poaching a few key clients” might just come back to bite you!

Over-use can kill your thinking and creativity. Use it wisely, but don’t let it be your go to for everything. You will end up sounding generic and personalityless.

It’s not a lawyer, coach, or union rep – it might sound wise but it’s not qualified to make high stakes decisions!

Win of the Week

How’s this for a win of the week…I coached a woman for interview this week, she’d came to me feeling low on confidence.

After one session with me she realised she was aiming way too low!

Of course she got the job, AND she’s already planning her next move beyond this role.

Not sure ChatGPT could have managed that for her!

ChatGPT Is Powerful…But It’s Not Me (Sinead)

Here’s the difference:

ChatGPT gives you output.

I give you insight.

ChatGPT structures your ideas.

I help you access the ideas you didn’t know were in you.

ChatGPT won’t challenge you, call out your inner critic, or help you untangle what’s really holding you back…in fact it’s a little bit sycophantic!

But I will.

So will my network. My tools. My experience. My track record.

That’s where the breakthroughs really happen!
