Last week I hosted my Leadership Reset webinar, and one theme came up again and again: CONFIDENCE
Not the loud kind. The real kind.
The kind that lets you speak up in a meeting without second-guessing yourself. The kind that grounds your voice…even when your hands are shaking.
We talked about tapping into my POWER framework so you can maximise your impact whilst lowering your stress, how to reset the inner critic, and what it takes to lead (and speak) with calm, conviction, and clarity.
Coaching Room Story
Miriam came to the Mastermind with an incredible depth of knowledge in her field.
Years of experience. Proven results. Huge respect behind the scenes.
And yet, she shrank from every opportunity to show it.
“I’d rather call in sick than present,” she admitted.
“My manager just told me to avoid it, that’s what she does. But I know that’s not the answer.”
She wasn’t afraid because she didn’t know her stuff.
She was afraid of being seen.
Of stumbling. Of not being perfect. Of judgment.
She was battling two powerful saboteurs: the inner Judge and the Perfectionist.
And they were winning.
Together, we rewired the fear.
We worked on:
The root of the fear – what her Judge was whispering in the background.
Regulating her nervous system before speaking.
Replacing the chase for “perfect” with presence, impact, and real connection.
Within two months, she did something she’d once said was impossible:
She spoke on a panel at a major international conference – in her second language.
And she smashed it.
Why Communication Confidence Is About More Than Words
When your voice feels shaky, it’s usually not about skill.
It’s about self-trust.
Especially in perimenopause, when:
Brain fog can steal your words mid-sentence.
Anxiety makes your voice tremble.
The Judge tells you to play it safe.
You’re tired of always having to sound on top of everything.
Confident communication isn’t about being flawless.
It’s about being grounded.
Knowing your value. Trusting your presence.
And letting go of the need to prove or perform.
The Science
Oestrogen impacts verbal fluency and memory – two things essential for clear communication.
Research shows women are more likely to ruminate after speaking…replaying conversations and over-analysing tone, content, and reaction.
Mental fitness (like Positive Intelligence) helps rewire the brain away from fear and towards calm, confident self-expression.
Win of the Week
“I used to panic at the thought of presenting. Now I speak up clearly, calmly, and people actually listen. One person told me after a session, ‘You owned that room.’ I’ll never forget that moment.”
— Mastermind Client, Tech Sector
Try This: The Pre-Meeting Reset
Before your next high-stakes conversation or presentation, try this 2-minute reset:
Pause. Three deep breaths in through your nose, out through your mouth.
Power pose. Shoulders back. Chin up. Rooted feet.
Ask yourself:
What’s the truth I want to share here?
How do I want people to feel when I speak?
What part of me is afraid—and can I offer her compassion?
You don’t have to banish nerves.
You just have to lead anyway, with courage and compassion in equal measure.
Why My Programmes Work So Well If Communication Is Your Edge
Because we don’t just work on your delivery, we build your inner voice too.
We quiet the Judge.
Disarm the Perfectionist.
And strengthen your Sage powers, so you can speak with clarity, warmth, and authority, even when your body’s screaming otherwise.
You’ll learn:
How to communicate with power (not performance).
How to manage nerves without losing your message.
How to lead meetings, panels, and presentations with more ease than you thought possible.
So when the spotlight’s on?
You don’t hide.
You connect.
